Why do women get their genitals pierced?
Most people get pierced to show off their jewelry but the genitals are hardly ‘show & tell’
One of the main reasons given was sexual enhancement' it helped them reach their 1st orgasm, made them feel adventurous, exciting, naughty
A properly placed piercing can enhance sexual satisfaction, there are 4 suitable areas: outer labia, inner labia, clit hood & the clit itself.
Physical criteria
You may not have the required anatomy to have the piercing done, many women don't have a clit large enough for a piercing. You also need a certain amount of skin in the inner & outer labia to pierce there
Here is a mould of a woman’s vagina with 5 piercings
Further below is a diagram of all the piercings

How do I know if I am suited for the piercing?
Heres' something simple you can do at home as a test;
(1) Sit on a chair without underwear & your bottom at the very edge
(2) Spread your legs & using a hand mirror;
(3) Pinch skin of Outer labia. It will feel thick & therefore will hurt more than a ‘regular’ piercing. The firmer the skin = better candidate Heal 6-8 months Depending on anatomy it is possible to pierce both the inner or outer labia as wearer desires. Some anatomy supports one or the other, for others both would be possible.
|
Most women can support an outer labia piercing though rejection rates are higher than inner labia piercing. This area of the vulva (area around vagina) is relatively low risk of hitting nerves or causing damage to sexual function. The tissue involved is also stretchy & highly mobile in daily life. A piercing in an area open to rubbing will be slow to heal & uncomfortable.
|
Outer or inner labia tissue is thick enough to accommodate more than 1 piece of jewelry

(4) Hold Inner labia between thumb & forefinger. Suitable candidates are able to hold flap easily Heal 6 wks-2 months
Do a lot of research regarding clitoral piercing. You may actually find you’re looking for a hood piercing; (piercing the hood of the clit instead of the bundle of nerve tissue.)
(5) With tip of finger lift Clit hood away from clit. It will not lift far & will be delicate. If too sensitive – you’re unsuitable. Lubricate cotton swab & gently insert under clit hood. If most of the tip can be inserted, you are a likely candidate. Heal 4-6 weeks.
Vertical is the most popular type of vaginal piercing said to stimulate clit tissue during sex. Hood piercing preferable to the clit itself as the clit is very sensitive & can cause pain & nerve damage
CLIT HOOD PIERCING HISTORY
In 1593 at the trial of a woman accused of witchcraft, the inquisitor (married man) discovered a Clitoris for the 1st time. When he saw this "little lump of flesh sticking out to the length of ½” he decided it was the "Devil's Teat". The others agreed & she was convicted & executed for witchcraft.
Queen Christina Name most commonly used to refer to any piercing of clitoral hood. Can be done vertically or horizontally, depending on placement & suited to both ring or barbell jewelry.
Clitoral hood piercing with horizontal placement is most often done when clit development is such that hood does not entirely cover clit with the bead of piercing ring just brushing the sensitive bundle of tissue. Horizontal requires an exposed clitoris to be stimulating. Tissue must be sufficiently vascular & able to pull away from the clit.
Vertical hood Clit hood piercing done with vertical placement is best suited if clit hood covers the clit bundle entirely. Worn with either a ring or barbell, this piercing is positioned so that the jewelry can brush or rub against the clit.
Triangle this hood piercing places a ring so that it goes through a small gap that sits somewhat behind the clitoral nerve bundle. This piercing should only be attempted on people with suitable anatomy & by a piercer with training & experience with this type of placement as clit nerves must be lifted away. Heal 1 wk but care for 1 month

Clit piercing is rare; most women are unable to support them. The clit must be large enough to clamp & easily exposed Piercing the knobbed nerve bundle related to sexual stimulation. Potential for damage to sexual function makes this a very rare piercing. Essentially, unless the tissue is very well developed, this piercing should not even be attempted. A clitoral hood piercing is much safer & can work pleasurably Heal 1-2 months

Fourchette Labial piercing at rear of vagina sometimes referred to as the “female guiche” due to similarity in location to the male piercing. Heal can be difficult as it partially pierces the rear wall of the vagina just at the opening
Princess Albertina female counterpart to Prince Albert piercing (in males, below) rarely done due to difficulty of procedure; piercing goes through urethra & top of vagina
PRINCE ALBERT PIERCING HISTORY
Named after Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria. The craze for ultra tight trousers required the penis to be held one side or the other to avoid ‘bulge.’ To accomplish this, men had their penis pierced & held by a hook on the inside of the trousers. This piercing was then called a "Dressing Ring" as tailors asked if gents dressed to the left or right & tailor trousers accordingly.

How is vaginal piercing done?
First the skin around the area is cleaned with an antiseptic.
Then a 12- to 16-gauge hollow needle with a piece of jewelry attached -- usually a barbell or captive bead -- is passed through the skin.
Does it hurt?
It would seem likely that if you pierce some of the most sensitive tissue in your body, the pain would be excruciating. Yet the procedure is quick & some who perform -- & receive -- genital piercing say it doesn't hurt any more than piercing other body parts
Are there risks?
Create an opening in the body = there’s chance of infection.
Sometimes, vaginal piercing can lead to bleeding, scarring, or an allergic reaction. Piercing behind the clitoris may interfere with blood flow.

Precautions
Here are a few precautions to reduce your risks:
Seek a professional who specializes in vaginal piercing. They will confirm if you have the appropriate anatomical shape for your piercing. They should check your ID, clean the genital area thoroughly with antiseptic, wear gloves & use a new sterilized needle
- Choose stainless steel, niobium, or titanium jewelry to prevent an infection or allergic reaction.
- After you get pierced, follow all instructions for cleaning. Wash area regularly with diluted saline solution & antibacterial soap & water. Don't use alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, Betadine, or ointment.
- Wear loose-fitting clothing to avoid friction in the area.
- Don't have sex for at least 2 weeks afterward. When you do have sex, clean the pierced area with saline solution or clean water afterward.
- Avoid pools & hot tubs until area healed.
- Jewelry can poke holes in condoms or dislodge a diaphragm. Use extra protection when having sex.
It's normal to have some discharge after you get a piercing. But if that discharge is an unusual green or foul smelling, you may have an infection. Leave the jewelry in place, clean area with antibacterial soap & warm compresses. Ask your Dr if you need an antibiotic

Nipple piercing & breastfeeding

No evidence suggests that proper nipple piercings can cause any complications with lactation.
Improperly pierced nipples & scarring may result in blocked ducts Good body piercing aftercare;
Frequent re-piercings can damage the nipple & cause complications. The piercings should be healed before breastfeeding.
Most piercers will refuse a pregnant woman for this reason & because stress on the body could potentially complicate a pregnancy
Complications from nursing with nipple jewelry can include poor latch, slurping, gagging & milk leaking from the baby's mouth.
It's also a potential choking hazard, baby's gums & tongue as well as the soft and hard palate could be injured by the jewelry.

Healing & Soreness
Once pierced, the healing process may be slow. It depends on size & weight of breasts.
If nipples are sore during healing process, use an ice pack Sea salt soaks provide comfort to sore nipples rested
comfortably in a cup of salt water for 5 mins then rinse well. The less aggravation the quicker the healing
It should only take about 6-8 weeks unless you have small kids that grab!

It's been months!
If it's been many months & you still haven't healed, you may have an allergy or sensitivity to the jewelry you are wearing.
You also might be doing something to aggravate it without realizing it. See your piercer & let them look at it

Jewelry Rejection
Is a nipple piercing a surface piercing? Can it reject like a surface piercing?
Technically, no. It's similar in that it enters & exits skin in 2 different areas, but it's not quite the same.
The nipple is fleshy enough to pierce securely behind plenty of skin to prevent rejection, but doesn't mean it can't reject
especially if not done properly in the first place. If the jewelry gauge is too thin or the piercing isn't deep
enough to begin with, you risk rejection. An allergy to the metal could cause it to reject. If you have infection &/or
tug on it too much, it could reject. Any piercing falls under these rules - so make sure your piercer knows what they're
doing and be extra dutiful about your aftercare!

Combatting Shyness
Shy about presenting your nipple to a stranger? Your piercer is a pro & this is not a sexual thing.
The less clothing to remove the better so wear a button up top. Then you only have to expose the nipple being pierced.

The Pain Factor
I have my nipples pierced so am speaking from experience. Getting them pierced was a breeze. I was going to do 1
at a time, but the first was so easy I did the other too. By then my endorphins had run down, the 2nd one hurt a bit.
Anyone can endure even the worst torture for 1-2 seconds. I promise, a piercing is nothing like torture!
